Syrian media reported that explosions were heard in the sky of the Syrian capital, Damascus, as a result of Syrian air defenses responding to the missiles launched by Israel during its second attack Friday night.

A Syrian military source said in a statement, “At approximately 01:20 AM, the Israeli enemy carried out an air aggression from the direction of Lebanese territory, targeting a number of points in the vicinity of Damascus… Our air defense media intercepted the aggression’s missiles and shot down some of them, and the aggression resulted in some material losses”.

A Syrian military source said in another statement earlier, commenting on the first Israeli attack, “At approximately 05:23 PM, the Israeli enemy carried out an air attack from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some points in the southern region… Our air defense media responded to the aggression’s missiles and shot them down… For the most part, the losses were limited to material losses”.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the damage was limited to material matters, while this double strike is considered the first of its kind.

This also comes the day after Tehran announced the killing of the prominent military commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Radhi Mousavi, as a result of an Israeli bombing that targeted the Sayyida Zeinab area in Damascus last Monday.
