The European Commission Energy Director Ditti Juul Jorgensen said in an interview with The Washington Post that the European Union will face great difficulties in the winter of 2023-2024.

She stated that, this winter will be difficult, but the European Union will do its best to prepare.

“I think we will face a bigger problem than the coming months in the winter of 2023-2024,” Jorgensen said.

Jorgensen indicated that, these expectations are based on the continuing imbalance in global financial markets, including the gas market.

Jorgensen added that the EU expects difficulties in replenishing energy supplies in March and April 2023.

Previously, the head of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, stressed the need for Europe to be able to deal with the gas supply crisis thanks to the large reserves, despite the expectations of an energy crisis in the coming winter.
