In the Russian Kommersant newspaper, writer Mariana Belinkaya wrote about Israel’s stubbornness in confronting the Palestinians, and Turkey’s attempt to play a special role with Russia there.

Belinkaya wrote, that the number of victims of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to increase.

Israel faces the risk of civil war between the Jewish and Arab populations.

Meanwhile, the UN Security Council failed to issue a statement on the situation.

Against this background, Turkey and Iran began to mobilize the Islamic world against Israel.

At the same time, it occurred to Ankara to apply in the conflict zone the experience of joint peacekeeping with Russia, which was tried in Syria, Libya and Nagorno Karabakh.

While they did not comment in Russia on this idea, Moscow stressed the need to intensify international efforts to resolve the conflict.

However, Moscow is well aware of Israel’s negative stance towards any attempts to mediate the conflict.

In recent years, Russia has offered several times to organize negotiations between Palestinian and Israeli leaders on its territory or anywhere else, but the Israelis have firmly rejected these ideas.

Earlier, the Israelis repeatedly stood against the deployment of peacekeepers between them and the Palestinians, whoever took the initiative.

While the UN peacekeepers monitor the demarcation lines between Israel on one side and Syria and Lebanon on the other, the situation is different with Palestine.

For Israel, this is largely an internal struggle.

The Israelis did not and will never allow the deployment of peacekeepers on their lands.

At the same time, Moscow insists that the problems between Israel and Palestine can only be resolved through negotiations.

It continues its contacts with its regional partners together.

In Moscow, unlike in Western capitals, they did not openly condemn Hamas’ strikes against Israel or urge them to forget the causes of the recent escalation.

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Vershinin, said in an interview with RIA Novosti: “We consider Israel’s attempts to change the geographical, demographic and historical nature of the Holy City of Jerusalem as illegal and without legal reasons.

We call for an immediate and complete cessation of all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories in accordance with the Assembly’s decisions of the United Nations and the UN Security Council”.

Moscow fears that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will affect the balance of power in the region as a whole.
