Around 200 US soldiers have arrived in Israel to establish a military coordination center to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza.

ABC News, citing US officials, reported that approximately 200 US soldiers have begun arriving in Israel in recent days to establish a military coordination center to oversee the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

The soldiers, who were sent on orders from US Central Command (CENTCOM), aren’t expected to enter Gaza.

According to sources, their role will focus on coordination, planning, and logistics, rather than operational activity.

Officials explained that the soldiers belong to units specializing in transportation, planning, logistics, engineering, and security.

They’re expected to work alongside representatives from partner countries, civil society organizations, and the private sector to ensure the continuation of the ceasefire and the flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

The planned coordination center in Israel is the first step in activating the agreement’s monitoring mechanism, which will include future coordination between security and humanitarian agencies for reconstruction and civilian support in Gaza.

According to sources, the team will arrive gradually over the weekend, with team members arriving in Israel on separate flights from the United States and other Middle Eastern countries.

Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), responsible for all US forces in the Middle East, has been in Israel since Friday to oversee the establishment of the coordination center.

The US move is part of a broader process of international supervision and monitoring of the implementation of agreements between Israel and Hamas, which were established as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.

The US team, along with other international bodies, aims to ensure humanitarian, security, and engineering coordination on the ground, without involving US soldiers in the fighting itself.
