Trump orders sending warships and additional troops to the Middle East
The United States has begun deploying additional military forces to the Middle East, as a response to fears of a potential Iranian response to recent Israeli strikes inside Iranian territory.
The Associated Press quoted US officials as saying that the US Navy had directed the destroyer USS. Thomas Hudner toward the eastern Mediterranean, and that another warship had been ordered to move and remain on alert, in anticipation of any escalation that might require US military intervention.
This move comes at the behest of US President Donald Trump, who held an emergency meeting with members of the National Security Council to monitor the rapidly unfolding developments.
