US President Donald Trump announced he would address the nation televised on Wednesday night, saying the year had been very good for the United States since he returned to power in January.

Trump wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday: “Americans: I’ll address the nation tomorrow evening, directly from the White House, at 9 p.m. East Coast time… I look forward to meeting you then”.

“It’s been a great year for our country, and the best is yet to come!”

White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitte told Fox News that Trump “will address the nation about his historic accomplishments this year, and will provide a glimpse of some of the decisions that will be made next year,” noting that the speech will focus on immigration and the economy.

The positive outlook that the US president and the White House are trying to reflect contrasts with the concerns expressed by Americans about the cost of living, according to opinion polls.

Americans’ dissatisfaction with Donald Trump’s economic policies, which are mostly based on tariffs, is worrying Republicans less than a year before the midterm congressional elections.

Some conservatives have called on the US president to focus more on domestic issues.

After last week’s campaign rally in the northeastern state of Pennsylvania, Donald Trump will head to the southeastern state of North Carolina on Friday in an effort to rally voters.

He recently expressed his dismay with the polls, writing on Truth Social: “When will the polls reflect America’s greatness today? When will it finally be said that I have built, without inflation, perhaps the best economy in our country’s history? When will people understand what is going on?”

Vice President J.D. Vance, who was in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, asked Americans to be patient, blaming former Democratic President Joe Biden for the rising cost of living.
