Security services told the German News Agency (dpa) that the German army will start preparations in Poland this week to transfer the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system there.

The departments stated that an exploration team is scheduled to go to Poland next Tuesday, after the end of coordination between the two governments in Warsaw and Berlin.

It is scheduled to inspect the German military sites suitable for the anti-aircraft system.

The aim is to protect critical infrastructure on NATO’s eastern flank.

It is noteworthy that the German government had offered Poland Patriot anti-aircraft batteries in order to secure its airspace after a missile hit a Polish region near the border with Ukraine in mid-November.

It should be noted that the Patriot system can counter enemy aircraft, tactical ballistic missiles, and guided missiles, with a range of more than 60 kilometers.
