October 7… The wizard’s hat! – Part 3
By: Contribution for Syrializm
History has taught us lessons through many similar cases of rulers who went to extreme, contrary to the will of the majority of their people and the interests of their countries.
Whoever doesn’t learn from history will end up in the dustbin of history, as history will repeat itself sooner or later for those who will come after them to learn, if they want to learn.
As for Hamas and the resistance movements in Gaza, the matter is completely different, even with the painful blows it received in this war.
The fact is Hamas and the concept of the resistance is growing stronger inside Gaza, and this war has led to the re-mobilization of Gazan citizens against the Israeli occupation, which in every confrontation is entrenched in the minds of generations.
The successive loss of Palestinians is the reality and basis of the conflict.
We must mention here that more than two-thirds of the population of the Gaza Strip are essentially Palestinian refugees who were displaced after 1948 and after the Six-Day War in 1967, meaning that Israel is repeating and reminding the new generations that they are the ones who murdered, destroyed, and displaced their fathers and grandfathers before.
The situation is getting repeated every few years, makes the Palestinian people further away from the concept of that peace with such an enemy is a good idea.
It’s worth noting that the population of Gaza is two million people, and the number of members affiliated with the resistance factions in Gaza, according to reports, exceeds approximately sixty thousand fighters.
This means that every 6 homes in Gaza has a fighter in these factions, taking into account the high birth rate there, which means the unity of the position and the issue between the population and the armed factions, and that this issue is not a partisan issue or separated from the ideological movement as promoted by the Western media, which also means that the media is useless in influencing a change in the position of the residents of Gaza and the Palestinians in general on this issue.
Because, it became obvious that what was called the peace process since the Madrid Conference in 1991, and the Arab peace initiatives, which were like the unfortunate one-sided love.
We won’t forget that one of Israel’s greatest generals and historical leaders, and its Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, after years of wars, blood, and breaking the bones of stone throwers during the Palestinian Intifada in 1987, came to the conviction that without peace between Israel and its Arab neighbors, include returning even a portion of the rights to their owners, it would be impossible for the Jews to live on this land with their neighbors in peace based on logical foundations, even if at a minimum; Rabin was assassinated by a right-wing Israeli, from the same group that leads Israel currently.
Today, after more than one hundred thousand casualties on the Palestinian side, including nearly forty thousand deaths, which by the way is the situation that has existed for decades in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank; the fact is, what the advocates of that peace were striving for has become impossible.
This pressure and accumulation are what provides the resistance factions with ideological fighters who believe in what they are constantly doing.
There is no need to provide them with money and privileges, as they are ready to die for their cause.
Every civilian among them has a vendetta against this unjust occupying authority, and dreams of being able to take his revenge in the future.
For them, this revenge and liberate the occupied land, is a life or death project (victory or death).
With the surreal demographics between the Palestinians and the Israelis, the killing of every Palestinian fighter with an Israeli soldier would mean a losing deal for the merchant of Venice who used to take his debt from living human flesh, as Shakespeare wrote in his famous novel, which if it were written today would be accused by the Europeans and the British before the Jews with anti-Semitism!
On the other hand, every Israeli citizen has two affiliations, two nationalities and two passports, as no one in Israel today considers his defense of this usurped land a personal issue, as the time of the Six-Day War and Yom Kippur has passed with the last generals and founding leaders of the State of Israel who have departed from this world, add to that the recent international cases brought against Israel.
The arrest orders that may be issued against the Israeli Prime Minister and Israeli army commanders may also, in the future, include younger ranks in the army, if their involvement is proven through confirmed documents, videos, and survivors testimonies, especially with some of the foolish Israeli soldiers are volunteering to film their practices in Gaza for the sake of boasting and self-indulgence, ironically, most of them die there, before they receive the honor of international trial.
All of this is pushing more and more Israelis to avoid serving in the army, for fear of being involved in issues like this, which may deprive them of the possibility of leaving the country if circumstances force them to do so.
This is the most important advantage that an Israeli citizen has in a country built on occupied land.
A while ago, a child asked me what was going on, after he was appalled by the scenes of Gaza children on social media.
I found nothing to present to him, except a picture containing the flags of countries in the Middle East, so I could leave him, Sesame Street style, to identify the strange flag among the group!
The Israeli citizen doesn’t have roots on this land (historic land of Palestine) that would make him choose to sacrifice to defend it.
With such a state, was built on a long series of wars and bloodshed, and a chronic state of hostility with all residents of the region without exception, with their diverse religions and ethnicities, the only guarantee remaining in the hands of the Israeli citizen is to use his second passport and leave this land, with the last of them not to forget to turn off the lights behind.
In the first days of the war, three hundred and fifty thousand Israelis left, and now the war has exceeded the two-hundred-day mark, we see the resignation of the head of Israeli military intelligence service, with successive reports indicate a succession of resignations, which will include first-line commanders in the army, and commanders of military formations, which might be due to the unwillingness of these commanders to get more involved, especially with what is being promoted about Rafah operation, as this operation, which experts agree will be nothing but a major massacre.
The commanders of the Israeli army realize that even if they survive international trials, they won’t survive the investigation committees that will be established in Israel immediately after the confrontation ends, similar to the Agranat Commission, which held the leaders of the State of Israel and the army back then accountable after the 1973 Yom Kippur War, and the Winograd Commission, which was established after the war in July 2006 with the Lebanese Hezbollah.
Army commanders in Israel, especially senior officers, want to reach the highest ranks of the army, such as the position of chief of staff, and then enter politics, therefore, their involvement in investigation committees means a professional suicide.
As for the soldiers, many Israeli soldiers refused to join their units, especially those fighting in Gaza.
For example, but not limited to, thirty reserve soldiers in the Paratroopers Brigade refused to join their unit, and this brigade is one of the elite brigades.
The scenes of battles and targeting broadcast by the resistance in Gaza have become a horror and a nightmare for every Israeli soldier, especially with hospitals filling up with the wounded, and coffins wrapped in the Israeli flag continuing to arrive in cities and settlements.
It’s worth noting here that Israel didn’t compensate its reserve soldiers for the losses they incurred as a result of the cessation of their private businesses and work, and their leaving to join the army.
Israel, as a state, rely on the army, which is the guarantee of existence, depends on the reserve forces, and without them, it would be impossible for the State of Israel to mobilize an army when another war breaks out from now on, and this means that the future of this state has become in doubt, and the current debate today regarding the necessity of Haredi Jews serving in the army is only a step in the path of a domestic conflict that will further fragment the Israeli society; there is huge difference between the life style in Tell Aviv and West Jerusalem.
The circumstances the State of Israel emergence require to remain strong and not be defeated in any war.
This is what Moshe Dayan wrote in his memoirs more than 40 years ago: “Israel has no choice but to win, and one defeat means its demise”.
This reality reminds us of the curse of the eighth decade that haunts the Jews in Israel and perhaps the Jews in the world, which is that there is a prophecy that their final entity won’t last more than eighty years, and the State of Israel will extinguish its 76th candle on this May 15th.
Moving to the West Bank, it’s clear that Hamas is winning there as well, where it has no significant presence, more than three decades after the launch of the Hamas movement, which was with the first Palestinian intifada, and with the Hamas movement adopting the option of armed resistance, and the Fatah movement adopting the option of peaceful negotiation.
On the other hand, the reality of the situation since then has become a competition between them on the basis of which side has the right to lead the Palestinian political scene, according to the choice and the approach of each side.
What we see now is that Hamas is winning territory and hearts, and the Hamas negotiator now, despite all these pressures, has an endless array of options.
In every negotiating round, the international mediators think that Hamas has made concessions, then they soon discover that what they saw as concessions is nothing but a hidden coup against the principle of the victor and the vanquished in an open confrontation, in which all masks have fallen off.
The Israeli side wants to achieve through negotiations what it was unable to obtain in war.
In reality, Israel has only one option in these negotiations, which is to free the prisoners, whatever the cost, which it doesn’t have in its hands, and this cannot be achieved through the military option.
According to the words of senior retired Israeli military commanders, those who their hair turned grey in the furnace of the decades of Arab and Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
In fact, what Israel will achieve or obtain in reality will only be by depriving it of its goal of displacing the Palestinians, by completing the war and continuing the massacres, and what may happen in Rafah will be the climax of the massacres.
In fact, for the Israeli War Cabinet, this is a necessary issue, so it doesn’t want to stop this war.
For Israel, Gaza is an obligatory route for the Israeli Water Canal (Ben Gurion Canal), which is an ambitious Israeli project linking the Red Sea to the Mediterranean, as it will be an alternative to the Egyptian Suez Canal, and Gaza, with its coast overlooking the eastern Mediterranean, is the center of this canal, with the option of resorting to use Ashdod port.
The other issue is no less important, which is that the sea basin area on the coast of Gaza is nothing but a huge reservoir of oil and gas, and Gaza also for Israel represents a soft flank, and the Hamas attack on October 7 proved that, and therefore Gaza will represent the weak flank, which will expose the back of Israel in any future war, or in any operation might be launched in the West Bank to be part of the plan to displace the Palestinians there towards Jordan within the framework of the Deal of the Century, as this idea isn’t new, as its one of the basic principles at the ruling Likud Party doctrine, who is leading the current ruling coalition, and is based on the principle that the area east of the Jordan River should be the alternative homeland for Palestinians of the West Bank.
Moreover, this approach is part of any attempt to change the existing situation in Jerusalem, a situation that has become urgent now, especially after the preparation of the five red cows, necessary for the purification process according to Jewish law, before any attempt to seize the holy place on the Temple Mount and demolish the Al Aqsa mosque, and build the temple in its place.
This thing is an important doctrinal issue for any Zionist, Jew or Christian, religious or non-religious, despite the fact that many Jewish sects don’t believe in this, and even those red cows must be natural in composition, not genetically modified as is the case of these poor five cows brought from Texas!
