The opposition leader and head of the Israeli Likud party, Benjamin Netanyahu, said that he would consider whether Israel would provide Ukraine with weapons, if he wins the elections scheduled for next month and returns to the post of prime minister, expecting that he will be asked to do so, mediated between Russia and Ukraine.

In an exclusive interview with the USA Today, Netanyahu added: “If I become prime minister, the issue of mediation is supposed to be raised again”.

Netanyahu, the longest-serving prime minister in Israel, is looking forward to a historic return, the USA Today said.

Netanyahu’s fifth term as leader of the right-wing Likud party ended in June 2021 when an eight-party coalition government, led by Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, rose to power.

It is worth noting that Israel resisted participating in a tangible way in the war to maintain its strategic relationship with Moscow.
