Israel Broadcasting Corporation: Israel is ready to withdraw all its forces from the Rafah crossing
Israeli security officials claimed on Saturday that their country is ready to withdraw its army from the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.
The official Israeli Broadcasting Corporation quoted the officials without naming them, a day after the International Court of Justice called on Israel to maintain the opening of the Rafah crossing, which has been closed for 19 days, to facilitate the entry of aid through it into the Gaza Strip.
On May 7, Israel took control of the Palestinian side with the Rafah crossing, and Cairo responded by refusing to coordinate with Israel on the crossing, accusing it of causing a humanitarian catastrophe in the Strip.
Israeli security officials claimed that “Israel won’t oppose the opening of the crossing if Egypt wishes, but will be prepared to remove the army forces according to practical and political considerations,” without providing further explanations in particular.
