China and Senegal sign agreement on international lunar research station

China and Senegal signed a cooperation agreement on the International Lunar Research Station, which Beijing and Moscow intend to build by 2035, to compete with the station of the US space agency NASA.

The agreement was signed during a space forum in eastern China’s Anhui province, making Senegal a new partner in China’s ambitious lunar exploration initiative.

The head of the Chinese delegation expressed his hope to strengthen international cooperation with Senegal in the field of space and lunar exploration, adding that the two sides look forward to working together to develop new technologies and exchange knowledge and expertise in this field.

For his part, the Senegalese representative stressed the importance of this agreement in promoting the scientific and technological progress that his country aspires to, expressing its readiness to deepen cooperation with China.

Last August, Senegal launched its first satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, with the goal of monitoring, monitoring, collecting and analyzing data that contributes to the management of natural resources, agricultural development, and disaster prevention.
