An Israeli special force infiltrate at night in southern Lebanon kidnaping an Islamic Group leader
The Islamic Group in Lebanon announced on Monday that Israeli forces infiltrated overnight in the south of the country and kidnapped its official in the Hasbaya area.
According to sources, Israeli forces infiltrated under the dark at midnight on Sunday-Monday night into the town of Habariya, and the kidnapping of the Lebanese Islamic Group official in Hasbaya and Marjayoun area, Atwi Atwi, from his home, taking him to an unknown destination.
In its official statement commenting the news, the Lebanese Islamic Group said, “We held the Israeli forces responsible for any harm inflicted on Atwi,” stressing that this act is in addition to the series of daily violations and barbaric attacks on Israel’s sovereignty.
The group asked: “Did this piracy come in response to the visit of the Prime Minister (Nawaf Salam) to the southern region and the towns of Hasbaya district? And on the affirmation of the people of the region of their adherence to the state?”
On Saturday and Sunday, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam toured southern towns, amid efforts to rebuild the southern areas destroyed by the Israeli army in its latest aggression, which continues through daily violations.
The group also pointed out that this piracy comes in the context of terrorizing the people of the area to push them to leave their villages and land.
The Islamic Group called on the Lebanese state to put pressure on the sponsors of the cessation of hostilities in order to work for the release of Atwi Atwi and all prisoners, and to stop all Israeli violations of Lebanese territory and sovereignty, and to defend the safe people and civilians in their villages and towns.
From their part, the Israeli army announced that it had carried out the operation on Monday, saying that its forces raided the “Jabal Rus” area in southern Lebanon and arrested in a night operation, a prominent member of the Islamic Group.
In a statement, the Israeli army said the operation comes in light of intelligence indications collected over recent weeks and that it has been transferred for investigation inside Israel.
The Israeli army claimed that weapons were found inside the building and accused the Islamic Group of carrying out actions “against Israel on the northern front”.
