In the operational course of the war in Ukraine, Western military experts have revealed a shift in the strategy of the Russian forces, which relies on small-sized offensive units that engage behind Ukrainian defense lines in qualitative operations, according to Forbes magazine.

The magazine pointed out that this strategy, which has become known as the “infiltration tactic,” is based on assault groups that usually don’t exceed two or three soldiers, a number considered ideal for camouflaging their movements and not being easily detected, especially with their reliance on rugged terrain and buildings as a natural cover for movement.

According to the report, these small units move at high speed, and once they reach the designated points, they work to prepare advanced positions, which are used as launching pads for precise reconnaissance missions, correcting artillery fire, targeting Ukrainian power centers, in addition to launching attacks on supply lines via drones, reflecting a remarkable integration between the human and technical elements.

What is most interesting, according to American analysts, is what the Russian forces have achieved in the field of electronic counter-warfare, where they have managed to create “drone-proof corridors” that are difficult for the Ukrainian side to penetrate.

These corridors are used especially in raids on neighborhoods and densely populated residential areas, allowing their forces to advance under an invisible air cover.

According to Forbes, this tactic recently contributed to the dismantling of Ukrainian defenses in the city of Konstantinovka, where the Ukrainian garrison was divided, putting it in a tactical predicament that made it difficult for it to organize its ranks or repel successive attacks.

What surprised Western experts, according to the report, was the advanced level of equipment possessed by these Russian assault groups.

They have a sufficient and diverse number of drones, which are used as a key component in planning operations.

They work in real time to collect intelligence, identify targets, and even carry out direct strikes to neutralize Ukrainian defensive positions before the arrival of assault units, giving them a clear field advantage.

In conclusion, the Forbes report stated that this new tactic enables Russian forces to liberate residential areas more effectively, as transit points towards broader and more ambitious operational objectives in the next stages of the conflict.
