AP: The CIA attacks a port in Venezuela

An attack on a port in Venezuela was carried out last week by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), claiming that it was used by drug cartels.

On Wednesday, the Associated Press quoted two sources who gave details of the first known attack by the United States inside Venezuelan territory.

According to the sources, the attack took place last week on the port located inside Venezuelan territory using drones, claiming that its being used by drug smuggling gangs.

The sources indicated that the attack was carried out by the US Central Intelligence Agency and that its the first known direct operation inside Venezuelan territory since the United States began carrying out these attacks.

Since early September, the US military has carried out at least 26 attacks against boats that Washington claims are transporting drugs in the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific, killing at least 104 people, according to US media reports.

The US military’s attacks on those boats and the direct targeting of people on board have sparked a debate about extrajudicial killings in the international community.
