The Wall Street Journal: The Trump administration approves the sale of long-range missiles to Ukraine
The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources, that the Trump administration has approved the sale of 3,350 extended-range missiles (ERAMs) to Ukraine.
According to the WSJ, the Trump administration approves the sale of long-range missiles to Ukraine, as the US administration approved the sale this week of 3,350 ERAM air-to-air missiles to Ukraine, and they are scheduled to arrive in Ukraine within approximately six weeks.
The total value of this arms package was $850 million, and included other items, with Kyiv’s European allies covering most of the costs.
The range of ERAM missiles is between 150 and 280 miles (241-450 kilometers), and that their use requires Pentagon approval.
While the United States hasn’t announced plans to supply Ukraine with additional missiles, other types of weapons purchased by European authorities from the United States may be sent to Ukraine.
These weapons include air defense systems and guided missile launch systems (GMLRS) with a range of 90 miles (145 kilometers).
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder the settlement of the conflict and draw NATO countries directly into the conflict.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that any arms shipments to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for the Russian military.
While the Kremlin stressed that the West’s injection of weapons into Ukraine doesn’t contribute to the negotiations and will have a negative impact.
