Wall Street Journal: Hezbollah is still strong and ready for a war of attrition against Israel
The escalation on the Lebanese-Israeli border between Israel and Hezbollah is escalating daily.
The Wall Street Journal reported that despite all the blows it has received recently, the Lebanese party is still strong and has not been destroyed.
It also seems ready to wage a long-term war of attrition.
After a series of Israeli attacks, Hezbollah began to implement more forceful responses, including launching missile and drone attacks deep inside Israel.
Recent combat operations have demonstrated the party’s ability to bypass Israeli air defenses, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s home being attacked by a drone, reflecting the development of Hezbollah’s military capabilities.
In the context of combat operations, recent confrontations resulted in the killing of four Israeli soldiers and the wounding of dozens in an attack on a military base.
Hezbollah also used advanced technologies, including guided missiles, to target Israeli soldiers.
Statistics show that the cost of shooting down each drone by Israel is estimated at about $100,000, while the cost of a missile could reach millions of dollars.
Over the past weekend, Hezbollah fired some 200 rockets, followed by an additional 140 on Tuesday, marking a significant escalation in the group’s activity.
However, these numbers are still below what would be expected in the event of a full-scale war.
On the other hand, Israel seeks to target strategic sites of Hezbollah, including economic infrastructure, in an attempt to undermine support for the party.
Despite the Israeli attacks, which it claims have reduced Hezbollah’s ability to fire long-range missiles, Hezbollah is still able to import more weapons to compensate for its losses.
With Israeli casualties mounting since the fighting began, the conflict on the Lebanese-Israeli border is showing signs of a potential continuation, with the potential to turn into a protracted war of attrition.
