Blogger Zion Evroni argues that Saudi agreement should provide a path to Palestinian statehood, according to an article at The Times of Israel newspaper.

The article stated that, the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia represents a rare, historic opportunity for creative diplomacy that will reshape the Middle East for years to come.

There are also huge benefits for the Israelis, Palestinians and Saudis.

For Israel, the agreement will provide an opportunity for peace with the most important Islamic country.

This will be a very important step towards resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict.

The agreement would provide significant economic gains.

The agreement will end the Palestinians’ long struggle to achieve the goal of an independent state, and they will have more control over their destiny, and friction with the Israeli army and settlers will decrease.

The agreement may contribute to eliminating terrorism and putting an end to the vicious cycle of mutual violence.

As for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the agreement could provide the opportunity to reach a defense agreement with the United States and provide Saudi Arabia with advanced US weapons.

It could also provide Saudi Arabia with civilian nuclear technology and reduce Saudi Arabia’s dependence on China in this context.

As for Netanyahu’s concern, the agreement is considered a face saver.

Instead of being remembered for corruption, people will remember him as a peacemaker.

The United States must also pressure Netanyahu to withdraw from the dispute with the judiciary to preserve Israel’s democracy.

Israel must freeze settlement construction and abolish illegal settlements.

The Arab neighborhoods surrounding Jerusalem should also be transferred to the Palestinian Authority in Area G, which is now under Israeli control.

As for the Palestinians, they must reduce violence in the West Bank and stop incitement against Israel in the media.

The article concluded by saying, that the Israeli-Saudi agreement is a truly historic opportunity and shouldn’t be missed.

The leaders involved in the agreement must stand side by side to realize this opportunity, but the question is… Do these leaders have sufficient will to undertake this important political shift?
