Wall Street Journal: Steve Witkoff reveals Trump’s real plan in Ukraine: Making money not war

The trade partnership between Russia, Ukraine and the United States will be a bulwark against conflicts, US envoy Steve Witkoff said on Saturday, calling on Ukrainians to pursue diplomacy to resolve the conflict.

Under the headline “Making Money, Not War: Trump’s Real Plan for Peace in Ukraine,” the Wall Street Journal quoted US envoy Steve Witkoff as saying that Ukrainians have fought valiantly for their independence and that it’s time to consolidate what they have achieved through diplomacy.

The WSJ newspaper claimed that the Kremlin had convinced the White House of the idea of peace through business, noting that US President Donald Trump and his envoy Witkoff had joined the idea, which is a disappointment for Europe.

The Wall Street Journal also quoted Witkoff as saying that if Russia, Ukraine and the United States become trading partners, it would be an impregnable bulwark against any conflicts, noting that Russia has vast resources and vast tracts of territory.

Earlier, the US administration announced the development of a plan to settle the Ukrainian crisis, noting that it won’t discuss its details at this time, as work is still underway.

On the other hand, the Kremlin said Russia remains open to negotiations and committed to the Anchorage talks.

On November 21, President Vladimir Putin stated that the US plan could form the basis for a final peace settlement, but the details of the text with Russia aren’t currently being discussed.

President Putin noted that the US administration is apparently unable to get Kyiv’s approval, as Ukraine and its European allies are still living in an illusion and dreaming of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia on the battlefield.

He pointed out that their position stems from the lack of objective information about the real situation on the battlefield.
