Trump’s senior Massad Boulos Arab African tour in Libya, Algeria, Tunisia

US President Donald Trump’s senior adviser for Arab and African affairs, Massad Boulos, visited Algeria and Tunisia on Tuesday, days after his visit to Libya, where he took part in an energy and economy summit.

During his visit to Algeria, Boulos held a meeting with the country’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, and Hydrocarbons and Mines Minister Mohamed Arqab.

In a post on X, he described the meeting as fruitful, during which he reaffirmed the strength of bilateral relations between the United States and Algeria and discussed ways to deepen strong trade and defense ties.

He said the importance of joint action was highlighted, which enables progress on common priorities, foremost of which is expanding economic opportunities and strengthening regional security.

Boulos reiterated Washington’s commitment to cooperating with Algeria to address regional issues and promote peace, stability and mutual prosperity.

In Tunisia, Boulos met with Foreign Affairs Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti on his second visit to the country in six months.

The US embassy in Tunis said the US official discussed common interests, including strengthening security, countering terrorism, and encouraging investment in the United States.

The US embassy added in a post on its Facebook page that the talks between the US and Tunisian sides also touched on the file of eliminating threats targeting the borders of the two countries.

Last Saturday in the Libyan capital Tripoli, Boulos participated in the signing ceremony of an energy agreement between the Libyan government and the French TotalEnergies company and the US ConocoPhillips company, worth $20 billion.

Boulos met with the Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Abdelhamid Dbeibeh, and during the meeting, he affirmed his country’s support for Libya’s efforts to achieve unity and stability.
