Trump and Saudi Crown Prince sign strategic defense agreement and a number of other bilateral agreements and memoranda
US President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman signed the “Strategic Defense Agreement” between the two countries at dawn on Wednesday, as part of the latter’s official visit to the United States.
The summit witnessed the signing of the “Strategic Defense Agreement”, in addition to the signing of a number of other bilateral agreements and memoranda between the two sides.
This agreement comes within the framework of the strategic partnership and the solid historical ties that have brought the two countries together for more than 90 years, and represents a pivotal step that strengthens the long-term defense partnership, and reflects the joint commitment of both sides to support peace, security and prosperity in the region.
The agreement confirms that Saudi Arabia and the United States are security partners capable of working together to confront regional and international challenges and threats, in a way that deepens long-term defense coordination, enhances deterrence capabilities and raises the level of readiness, in addition to developing defense capabilities and their integration between the two parties.
The agreement also establishes a solid framework for a continuous and sustainable defense partnership that contributes to enhancing the security and stability of the two countries.
In this context, Trump and the Saudi crown prince signed a number of bilateral agreements and memoranda at the White House, including the “Strategic Partnership for Artificial Intelligence, the Joint Statement on the Completion of Negotiations on Cooperation in Civil Nuclear Energy, and the Agreement to Facilitate the Procedures to Accelerate Saudi Investments.
The agreements and memoranda also included the signing of the “Strategic Framework for the Partnership in Securing Supply Chains for Uranium, Metals, Permanent Magnets and Critical Metals, Financial and Economic Partnership Arrangements for Economic Prosperity, and Arrangements for Cooperation in the Financial Market Authorities Sector”.
The signing also included a memorandum of understanding in the field of education and training, and messages related to vehicle safety standards.
Following the bilateral summit between the two leaders, the Saudi crown prince attended a state dinner with Trump at the White House.
Hours earlier, Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrived at the White House, and held a bilateral meeting and a joint press conference with Trump.
The crown prince received a warm official reception at the White House.
Trump accompanied the Saudi crown prince to the White House, where they visited an exhibition of photographs of former US presidents.
Saudi-US relations are witnessing a growing partnership and cooperation in various economic, political and security fields, with expectations of increasing the momentum of cooperation in light of the current visit.
