The US Secret Service confirmed that it discovered a suspicious sniper platform near Palm Beach International Airport with a direct line of sight to the spot where President Donald Trump typically exits Air Force One.

“The FBI is now leading an investigation following this discovery,” the statement said.

The US Secret Service explained that the structure of the sniper platform provides a clear view of Trump’s departure point from Air Force One at Palm Beach International Airport.

Officials said that agents found the site last Thursday, adding that the FBI is currently leading the investigation.

FBI Director Kash Patel noted that no one has yet been identified as being linked to the site, explaining that “prior to the president’s return to West Palm Beach, Florida, the Secret Service discovered a fishing observation platform on an elevated site directly overlooking the landing area of Air Force One”.

He confirmed that no one was found at the site, and the FBI is leading the investigation.

Palm Beach is located in the southeastern United States state of Florida.

The investigation comes weeks after Ryan Roth was convicted of attempting to assassinate Trump at a Palm Beach golf course, where he set up a sniper position among the bushes near the perimeter fence.

President Trump traveled to Florida on Friday and is spending the weekend in West Palm Beach, where he usually stays at his Mar-a-Lago golf resort.
