A number of Palestinians were martyred and two others were injured, at dawn on Sunday, as a result of the intense Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip, which continues for the ninth day in a row.

At dawn on Sunday, the Israeli army bombed two houses in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, resulting in the death of 15 Palestinians and the injury of others.

According to medical sources, “15 killed fell as a result of the Israeli aircraft bombing a house in the Tal al Hawa neighborhood, west of Gaza City”.

Israeli warplanes launched a series of raids on Deir al Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

On Saturday evening, a Palestinian was killed in an Israeli raid on a house west of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Sunday that the death toll from the Israeli bombing of the Strip since October 7 had risen to 2,329 martyrs.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said in a statement posted on its Facebook page, “2,329 citizens were martyred and another 9,042 citizens were injured with various others”.

For the ninth day, the Israeli army continues to target the Gaza Strip, with intense air strikes that destroyed entire neighborhoods and left thousands dead and wounded among Palestinian civilians, amid an Israeli attempt to empty the northern region of Gaza of its population.

The Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory, Francesca Albanese, warned that the Palestinians are exposed to a serious risk of mass ethnic cleansing.

Albanese said, in a press statement, on Saturday, that the Israeli forces issued an order, on Thursday, for one million and one hundred thousand Palestinians in northern Gaza to move south within 24 hours in light of the continuing aerial bombardment.

She added that reports indicated that the next day, Israeli forces began entering Gaza in order to cleanse the area.

She stated that the Palestinians have no safe place in any area in Gaza, while Israel imposes a complete siege on the small strip while illegally cutting off the supplies of water, food, fuel, and electricity.

The statement continued, “Rafah, the only crossing that was partially open to Gaza, was closed after the damage caused by the Israeli air strikes”.

In the US, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced on Saturday evening that his country would send a second group of aircraft carriers to the eastern Mediterranean to deter hostile actions against Israel.

This came in a statement by Austin published by the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) on its official website, after announcing on Wednesday the arrival of the US aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford to the eastern Mediterranean in international waters off Israel.

“The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group (CSG) has been directed to begin moving into the eastern Mediterranean,” Austin said.

He explained that this comes as part of our efforts to deter hostile actions against Israel or any efforts aimed at expanding the scope of this war in the wake of Hamas’ attack on Israel.

Austin continued, according to the text of the statement, “The strike group includes the guided missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG-58), the USS Mason (DDG 87), and the Third Carrier Air Wing (CVW 3), with nine squadrons of aircraft.”

On Saturday evening, ABC News quoted US officials as saying that sending aircraft carriers to the region aims to demonstrate the United States’ commitment to Israel and to be a deterrent to Iran and Hezbollah from getting involved in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
