The Israeli army announced that 4 soldiers were killed and others were injured in an incident that took place in southern Lebanon, without revealing immediate additional details about the nature of the incident.

The army said in a statement that the families of three of the dead had been informed: Captain Noam Madmoni, Staff Sergeant Maxim Antis, Sergeant Gilad Harel, and Sergeant Ben Cohen.

The statement also noted that one soldier was seriously wounded and another reservist was moderately injured in the same incident, noting that all the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Earlier, it was reported that a force from the Nahal reconnaissance company spotted, at approximately 18:30, armed cells, which led to the outbreak of a violent clash from close range.

The clash witnessed a heavy exchange of fire between the Israeli force and the gunmen, where the force returned fire, confirming that a number of militants were injured.

During the clash, soldiers suffered casualties, and the evacuation forces immediately began transferring the wounded to a designated airstrip.

During the evacuations, the militants fired an anti-tank missile at Israeli forces, causing no additional casualties, while the army responded with heavy fire, tank shelling and air strikes targeting the militants’ positions.
