The CIA director talks about the decline of the United States in the face of the growing influence of Russia and China
CIA Director William Burns said in an article for the Foreign Affairs newspaper that the United States has lost its superiority due to the growing influence of Russia and China.
Burns added in his article, “The rise of China and Russian retaliation create serious geopolitical complications in a world characterized by intense strategic competition in which the United States no longer enjoys the undisputed superiority it once did”.
Burns stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is working to restore and develop Russian defense production, noting that Russia is confident of its ability to crush Ukraine and exhaust its Western supporters.
He pointed out that the year 2024 is likely to be a difficult year on the battlefield for Kiev, and a difficult test of the Ukrainian forces’ ability to withstand.
For its part, Russia has confirmed, through the words of many officials, that the West’s incitement to Ukraine, its supply of weapons and money, and its publication of misleading and inflammatory media campaigns against Russia are considered direct involvement in the war against Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry considered NATO countries’ supply of weapons to Ukraine to be playing with fire and incitement that fuels the crisis, undermines chances for peace, and may lead to the outbreak of a nuclear war.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also warned Western countries against supplying weapons to Ukraine, and vowed to crush it on Ukrainian territory.
