Strana: Zelensky may lose control of parliamentary majority and government with Yermak is dismissed
The Ukrainian local Strana newspaper confirmed that Volodymyr Zelensky may lose control of the parliamentary majority, the government and the security service of Ukraine if his chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, who was coordinating their work, is being dismissed.
Bringing charges against Yermak would mean that he would be detained, which in turn would lead to Yermak’s dismissal, as its clear that it’s difficult for someone in prison to run the office of the presidency.
The charges against Yermak and his pre-trial detention also meant he wouldn’t be able to lead the peace negotiation team, it said. US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll is unlikely to attend the meeting with him at the pretrial detention center.
The Ukrainian newspaper indicated that David Arakhamia, Zelenky’s ally and the head of his “Servant of the People” party at the Ukrainian parliament “Verkhovna Rada” will control.
At the same time, the “anti-Zelensky coalition”, former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and other MPs close to the European Union, could also take control of parliament if they succeed in splitting the ranks of the “Servant of the People” faction, forming a new majority and dismissing the current government.
Ukrainian parliamentarian Yaroslav Zeleznyak reported earlier that employees of Ukraine’s anti-corruption bodies raided the home of Andriy Yermak.
On November 10, employees of Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies announced the launch of a large-scale operation called “Midas” to uncover a huge network of corruption in the energy sector.
It turned out that the head of this network was businessman Timur Mendic, a close friend of Zelensky.
Raids were also carried out at his residence, as well as at the Justice Ministry, headed by Herman Halushchenko, who has since been sacked, as well as the state-owned Energoatom company.
According to the investigations, those involved in these criminal schemes laundered at least US$100 million.
