Israeli raids target military sites in Latakia and Tartus
Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on Friday night targeting military sites in the Latakia and Tartus governorates in northwestern Syria, marking a new escalation following the collapse of Assad’s regime in December 2024.
The airstrikes targeted the 107th Brigade in the Zama area of Jableh, a city in the Latakia countryside, as well as the al Shamiya barracks in the north of the province, and the al Wahib barracks, also known as al Balata, north of Tartus.
According to local sources, a large fire broke out at the targeted sites as a result of the bombing.
