Hostile statements… An Israeli minister says that Türkiye is the new Iran
Israel’s Minister of Diaspora, Amichai Chikli, warned that the security challenges facing Israel today come mainly from Syria and Türkiye, considering that Ankara has become a representative of what he described as the “new Iran” with expansionist ambitions and a regional project led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Chikli said what he describes as a Türkiye carries a clear Ottoman tendency, ranging from supporting political Islam groups to seeking to consolidate regional influence beyond its traditional borders, referring to Erdogan’s long-standing project linked to the establishment of a “Muslim Brotherhood caliphate”.
The Israeli minister added that the most urgent danger to Israel at the moment is the activity of jihadist groups in Syria, stressing that Israel Won’t allow these factions to take control of Mount Hermon or any border area that could threaten its security.
Speaking at a conference in New York, the Israeli Minister of Diaspora reiterated his criticism of regional alliances that he believes are being used to promote anti-Israel influence, stressing that confronting these risks requires “determined political and security action” on the part of Israel.
