During the opening of the Gulf-US summit in Riyadh: Trump hopes to strike a deal with Iran and include countries in the Abraham Accords

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that he wants to make a deal with Iran and include other countries in the “Abraham Accords”.

This came in his speech at the Gulf-US summit held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.

At the summit, Trump spoke about a number of developments in the Middle East, particularly in Syria, Lebanon, and Palestine.

Trump said, “The Gulf states are at the forefront of creating a stable Middle East”.

He expressed his hope that other countries in the region would join the Abraham Accords to normalize relations with Israel.

He added, “There is an opportunity to build a prosperous Lebanon in peace with its neighbors”.

Regarding developments in Yemen, Trump said, “We struck more than 1,200 Houthi targets in Yemen, and after 52 days of attacks, the Houthis stopped attacking ships”.

The US President affirmed his desire to strike a deal with Iran, “but their sponsorship of terrorism must stop,” he said.

For his part, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman affirmed his commitment to de-escalating tensions in the region, ending the war in Gaza, and finding a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.

Speaking at the summit, Bin Salman said, “We commend the decision taken by President Trump yesterday to lift sanctions on Syria”.

He added, “We stress the need to restrict weapons to the Lebanese state and our support for efforts aimed at achieving stability there”.

The Saudi Crown Prince continued, “We’re keen to continue cooperation and coordination with the United States for the sake of stability in the region”.

Bin Salman said, “We encourage dialogue between the Yemeni parties and reaching a comprehensive political solution there”.

It’s worth noting that these statements came during the Saudi Crown Prince’s meeting with US President Donald Trump in the Saudi capital, Riyadh.
