Donald Trump signs an order declaring any attack on Qatari territory a threat to US security

US President Donald Trump signed a new executive order affirming the United States’ commitment to ensuring the security of the State of Qatar, stressing that this includes the possibility of using military force if Qatar is threatened or attacked.
This resolution stipulates that the United States must take all legal and appropriate measures, whether diplomatic or economic, and, if necessary, military action, to defend its interests and those of Qatar in the region.
The executive order also called on the US Secretary of Defense to continue coordinating with senior Qatari officials to develop joint contingency plans to ensure a rapid and coordinated response to any potential aggression against Qatar.
This announcement came weeks after Israeli airstrikes against Hamas leaders inside Qatar, sparking significant tensions and concerns between officials in Doha and Washington and raising questions about the effectiveness of the security guarantees the United States provides to its Gulf allies.
In the same context, Israeli media reported last Monday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had formally apologized to Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani for the attack that targeted the Qatari capital on September 9.
Reports indicated that Netanyahu expressed his regret during a phone call for the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty, particularly for the death of the Qatari security officer during the operation.
For his part, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, described the Israeli attack on his country as a flagrant violation of international laws and norms, and considered it a terrorist act par excellence.
In his address to the UN General Assembly, he emphasized that the decline of the values of the international system in the face of the logic of force represents a major danger, warning that tolerance of such violations constitutes a weakness that encourages further transgressions.
It’s worth noting that Qatar hosts the largest US military base in the Middle East, making the latest Israeli attack, launched by a close ally of Washington, a shocking event that has raised considerable concern among Qatari officials.
