The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wished his country victory in his congratulations to the Orthodox on Christmas Eve, Friday.

Zelensky said, in a statement, that “Orthodox Christians are preparing to celebrate Christmas on Saturday, and therefore I congratulate the millions of Ukrainian families who today gathered together to spend Christmas Eve”.

He praised Ukrainians for standing by each other and protecting their land, culture, traditions and faith.

Referring to the ongoing war with Russia, the Ukrainian president added: “On the day of the feast, guests must be treated with special kindness and care… Guests, not occupiers… It’s forbidden to clean the house and take out the garbage from it on a holy day like this, but we are fighting demons and taking out the garbage from our house for more than 300 days in a row”.

Zelensky concluded his letter with the hope of achieving “victory, peace and prosperity for thousands of years in Ukraine”.
