The Washington Post revealed that the United States has pledged to provide more than $60 billion in aid to Ukraine since the beginning of the war, including $43 billion in military aid.

The amount of this aid is more than what the United States has provided to any other country.

According to The Washington Post, the American popular support for financing the war began to fluctuate, especially among Republicans.

The Washington Post presented a review of the growth of US military aid since the beginning of the war.

On February 25, 2022, US President Joe Biden approved a military aid package worth $350 million, which included small arms and ammunition, in addition to protective armor and equipment.

This package was considered the first of dozens of packages announced for Ukraine as the war continues.

Six months later, the Pentagon pledged its largest tranche of security assistance to date ($3 billion), which represented “the beginning of a contracting process to provide additional priority capabilities to Ukraine in the medium and long term, to ensure Ukraine’s ability to continue to defend itself”.

After a year of war, the Biden administration announced $2 billion in additional security assistance, considered part of the commitment to Ukraine’s long-term security.

The Washington Post calculated that the total US aid amounted to $43.1 billion, distributed between $23.5 billion for weapons and military equipment, $18 billion for security aid, and $1.5 billion for grants and loans to purchase weapons and equipment.

In addition to the military aid amounting to $43.1 billion, which represents 65.1% of US aid to Ukraine, Washington, according to the newspaper, has provided about $20.5 billion in budget support to Ukraine since the beginning of the war, and more than $2.6 billion to support the displaced, including refugees and other groups inside and outside the country.

According to the Washington Post, the total of what the United States sent to Ukraine is $66.2 billion in military, financial, and humanitarian aid.
