Wang Yi: China announces overcoming the epidemic

Wang Yi, head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, said his country has successfully overcome the epidemic and is ready to fully restore communication with Europe and the world.
“China has successfully emerged from the epidemic stage and is ready to fully resume contacts with Europe and the world,” Wang Yi said during a meeting with EU chief diplomat Josep Borrell in Munich on Saturday, according to the Chinese foreign ministry statement.
Wang Yi stressed that the parties can actively prepare for new meetings between the leaders of China and the European Union, and make full use of high-level dialogue mechanisms in various fields so as to restore cooperation to pre-epidemic levels as soon as possible.
Wang Yi also noted that China and the EU should maintain open cooperation and jointly maintain the stability of global production and supply chains.
Earlier, the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CCP) Central Committee announced that it had achieved a decisive victory in the country’s prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Last December, Chinese authorities began to weaken the anti-Covid policy, which for nearly three years had been the most stringent in the world, negatively affecting the economy, global production and supply chains, tourism and exchanges between countries.
A major reshuffle in the procedures came after a wave of protests in the country’s major cities to demand the lifting of the lockdown, the halt of regular large-scale PCR testing, and the start of a policy of easing anti-epidemic measures.
