Usefully fool… Medvedev calling Germany’s foreign minister

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev described Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock as a Useful Fool after she declared that Europe was at “war with Russia.

Medvedev said on his Twitter “A catchy phrase… We’re at war against Russia, not against each other… Isn’t it good when Germany’s foreign minister is so completely foolish and so helpful?”

The former Russian president tweet came in response to the German Foreign Minister, who used this phrase at Wednesday’s session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Straberg.

Annalena Baerbock, who belongs to the Green Party, said in the session: “We in Europe are fighting a war against Russia, not each other against each other,” a statement that some considered a slip of the tongue in which the minister put her country in a quandary.

Baerbock called for more to be done with regard to tanks, “but the most important thing is that we do it together and not blame each other in Europe”.

The statement required clarification from Berlin, as the German Foreign Ministry said Thursday that providing support to Kiev doesn’t mean that Germany is a side in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

Last Friday, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova asked the German ambassador to come to Moscow to clarify Germany’s situation regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war due to the controversial statements issued by the German Foreign Ministry and its minister.

In a separate statement on Telegram, commenting on calls from Britain to send all weapons at NATO’s disposal to Ukraine, Medvedev said: “Protecting Ukraine won’t save the rickety old world from punishment”.

He added that in the event of a third world war, it wouldn’t be about tanks or even warplanes, and of course, then everything will turn to dust”.
