US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the United States doesn’t use sanctions to force companies to stop their dealings with the Russian Federation, especially food and medicine supplies.

Miller said during a press conference held on Wednesday, “With regard to Russia, we have always emphasized that there are commercial activities that we do not seek to influence… Our sanctions make exceptions for food and medicine supplies… The United States doesn’t want to enter into a conflict with the Russian people.

He added that representatives of the business community should independently decide whether to continue their business activities with Russia, taking into account legal, reputational and other risks.

According to Miller, the US government doesn’t aim to dictate the decisions companies must make.
