The White House and the US State Department took advantage of the release of 4 Israeli prisoners from the Gaza Strip to emphasize the need to work on the release of the remaining Hamas through the formula of the agreement proposed by US President Joe Biden.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan praised the successful Israeli army and security operation, noting that the 4 prisoners are now safe and have been reunited with their families.

Sullivan affirmed US support for all efforts to secure the release of hostages still held by Hamas, including US citizens.

“This includes ongoing negotiations or other means… The release of the hostages and the ceasefire agreement now on the table would ensure the release of all remaining hostages as well as security guarantees for Israel and relief for innocent civilians in Gaza”.

Sullivan said the deal has the full support of the United States and has been endorsed by countries from around the world including the Group of Seven, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, as well as the 16 countries whose citizens remain held by Hamas.

The US State Department said in a statement, “The United States won’t rest until every hostage is repatriated”.

“The proposal put forward by President Biden 8 days ago would bring relief to both Gazans and the remaining hostages and their families through an immediate ceasefire that could lead to the release of all hostages, increased humanitarian aid, Gaza reconstruction, and a ceasefire, and a lasting end to the war”.
