Ukraine: More than 20,000 soldiers trained abroad last year

The deputy head of the main operations unit of the Ukrainian Joint Staff, Brigadier General Oleksiy Hrumov, said that more than 20,000 Ukrainian forces have already received training abroad over the past year.
“The personnel and joint military units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are being trained in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, as well as by the US forces in Germany,” Hrumov said in exclusive statements to the Ukrainian Ukrinform News Agency.
He added that the general command of brigades, as well as units at the level of battalions, companies, artillery batteries, and air defense batteries were trained on the territory of the partner countries.
The Ukrainian general indicated that specialists are still being trained to use foreign weapons and military equipment obtained in the framework of technical assistance, explaining that about 10,000 personnel have been trained in 17 countries over the past year.
In addition to training, Ukraine receives massive military and economic aid worth billions of dollars from the United States, the European Union and the Group of Seven major economies.
And the United States announced, before the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to meet with his American counterpart, Joe Biden, last month, that it would send Ukraine additional military aid worth 1.85 billion dollars, “and this includes the first delivery of the Patriot air defense missile system.
