The US National Security Advisor heads to Saudi Arabia to meet with the Saudi Crown prince to discuss normalization with Israel and other regional urgent issues
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan intends to go to Saudi Arabia this week to hold talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, amid a US effort to make progress towards normalizing relations between Israel and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Normalization talks were halted following the October 7 attack by Palestinian Hamas militants on southern Israel and the subsequent Israeli attack on Gaza, but talks have resumed in the past few months.
According to information, Sullivan intends to hold talks with the Crown Prince regarding this issue, but he doesn’t expect to achieve a major breakthrough.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on March 21 that the United States and Saudi Arabia had made good progress in talks on normalizing relations between the KSA and Israel, without providing a timetable for concluding an agreement.
Within the framework of the normalization agreement, Saudi Arabia wants to conclude a joint defense agreement with Washington and obtain US support for its civil nuclear program.
