The mystery of the naval fleet raises debate in Türkiye with 69 cargo ships are active daily in securing Israel’s needs
Turkish politicians and parliamentarians tend to link the magnitude reached by a sea transport fleet owned by the sons of prominent officials in the ruling AKP party with the operational framework that reinforced the conviction that Türkiye, for “commercial and economic” reasons, must invest in the blockade imposed by the Yemeni Ansar Allah group on Israel through the Red Sea.
The aforementioned fleet has recently entered service and the number of ships specialized in shipping has reached 69 ships of various size.
Some reports in the Turkish media indicate that the aforementioned maritime transport fleet is the most active in transporting and securing goods and products for Israel.
It appears that high-level officials have succeeded in convincing the political decision-making circles surrounding Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that this fleet is one of the basic keys that will generate income.
Türkiye must prevent an economic collapse, especially since the fleet’s operations are daily and intense, and it’s active in compensating for Israeli losses, in contrast to the fact that some of the fleet’s ships and containers are also qualified to transport fuel.
The idea, according to Turkish sources, is that these maritime transport operations to Israel are very profitable at high prices across the Mediterranean, and the Turkish treasury receives revenues and taxes as a result of maritime trade laws, meaning that the benefit accrues to the Turkish treasury, unlike the operations of the maritime fleet for maritime transport contribute to, firstly, an increase in a time of economic distress.
Secondly – some energy companies are activating and serving the sector by transporting quantities of ready-made fuels to meet the entity’s needs.
In practice, Türkiye now exports to Israel about 56% of the Israeli market’s needs of vegetables, fruits, dry grains, and about 7% of fuel, which is a very profitable process for the two companies that manage the marine fleet specialized in transportation.
It’s clear that the Turkish Exporters Association, which has active representatives in Parliament, provided cover for maritime transport operations.
It’s also clear that the presidential palace doesn’t object to these exchanges and doesn’t obstruct them even for political reasons, but some circles of representatives of the ruling Justice and Development Party criticize the Turkish presidency for not bartering in political interests, meaning that it hasn’t issued any signal that it would trade securing Israel’s needs for trading, even partially with Gaza markets or providing aid to the people of the Strip, which is what Jordan is also doing in the export of vegetables.
The fleet mystery raises a critical debate among ruling party parliamentarians.
Meanwhile, it appeared to be that Turkish President provides the reference political cover for trade exchange operations with Israel for multiple and incomprehensible reasons.
Young, influential businessmen are participating in sponsoring these maritime operations, and some sources talk about members of President Erdogan’s family who have an interest, as well as members of the family of his in-laws, and close allies.
