The Israeli army announces an attack targeting Eilat at dawn on Wednesday as sounds of explosions are heard in the city
Israeli media reported that successive explosions rocked the city of Eilat on the Red Sea coast, amid talk of intercepting missiles.
The media described the anti-interceptor missiles as large and not an Iron Dome or anything similar, and the army apparently intercepted an additional threat coming from Yemen.
It was likely that the interception missiles were from the Israeli Arrow system or another system of the same model, which indicates that the missiles that were intercepted were mostly coming from Yemen.
The Israeli army spokesman said, “A short while ago, the air defense intercepted an air threat that was detected in the Red Sea area south of Eilat… No danger to the population was detected, and no entry into the target into Israeli territory was detected”.
This news came, after a military spokesman for the Houthi group announced, on Tuesday, the launch of a large batch of ballistic missiles and a large number of drones towards Israel.
Military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a statement broadcast on television that this operation is the third in support of our brothers in Palestine, and we will continue to carry out more qualitative strikes.
On Tuesday, the Houthis in Yemen vowed to continue launching missiles and drones towards Israel until the aggression on the Gaza Strip stops, announcing the launch of three such operations since the outbreak of war between Israel and Hamas on October 7.
