German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stressed that no NATO or European Union forces will be sent to fight in Ukraine.

Schulz’s speech came during the electoral conference of the European Socialists Party in the Italian capital, Rome, where he stressed that there is no desire for a war between NATO and Russia, adding that the alliance will do everything in its power to avoid that war.

Scholz said, “The war in Ukraine will end the moment President Putin decides to withdraw his forces, but we won’t make this decision unless he realizes that he cannot achieve any gains on the battlefield, and that he cannot dictate an unjust peace”.

Scholz continued, saying, “Our continued support for Ukraine is the key to restoring peace in Europe, and I express my gratitude that many European leaders have responded to our calls to make more efforts so that Ukraine doesn’t run out of money, weapons and ammunition”.

The German Chancellor said, “Everyone at our meeting on Monday in Paris clearly confirmed that NATO and none of our countries will become a party to this war… We’ll not send European soldiers to Ukraine… We don’t want a war between Russia and NATO… We’ll do everything we can to prevent it”.

Scholz concluded his speech by saying, “Everyone at our meeting on Monday in Paris clearly confirmed that NATO and none of our countries will be a party to this war… We’ll not send European soldiers to Ukraine, we don’t want a war between Russia and NATO, and we will do everything in our power to prevent it”.

During his visit, Scholz met with Pope Francis in the Vatican on Saturday morning and Italian President Sergio Mattarella in Rome on Friday.
