The German army manpower is witnessing sharp decline
The number of German army soldiers decreased to 181,500 men and women, despite efforts to increase the number of personnel.
According to statements by the German Ministry of Defense, Friday, the number, which was counted on December 31st, is approximately 1,500 active and temporary soldiers, in addition to volunteers, less than it was a year ago.
The number of German army soldiers reached 183,500 soldiers at the end of 2022.
A ministry spokeswoman said that the army’s main goal was and will continue to be to support personnel readiness in the long term.
She added, “We need qualified women and men who are ready to serve and available in sufficient numbers for upcoming tasks and assignments”.
The increasingly noticeable effects of demographic and social changes are evident in all areas of work and professions.
The Ministry of Defense spokeswoman said, “The previous competition between job seekers to obtain a job has turned into a competition between employers for the workforce, especially for specialized technical personnel,” pointing out that “this development also reflects itself in the German army”.
The spokeswoman stated that a range of measures and initiatives had been taken to increase attractiveness and increase flexibility and rapid response.
