American famous investigative journalist Seymour Hersh stated that US President Joe Biden didn’t have a ready plan to blow up the Nord Stream gas pipelines at the moment of a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in February 2022.

Hersh gave an interview to the German Berliner Zeiting newspaper on Tuesday, following up on an investigation that he published earlier this month, in which he revealed that the United States was behind the sabotage of the Nord Stream in September 2022.

“We Americans didn’t have a plan at the time, but we knew we had the ability to implement it,” Hersh explained, referring to the period from January to February 2022.

According to Hersh, it was clear to the White House team that they could blow up the pipelines with an incredibly powerful explosive called C4, which could be triggered remotely using sonar (underwater acoustic detection).

Hersh added that in early January, the White House was informed of this option, and two or three weeks later, US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said the US could do it.

“It seemed like January 20th, and then President Biden publicly stated during a joint press conference with the German chancellor on February 7, 2022 that in the event of an attack on Ukraine there will be no Nord Stream… We’ll do that… I promise we can do it,” Hersh said.

In his previous report, Hersh revealed that during the NATO Baltops maneuvers in the Baltic Sea in the summer of 2022, US divers installed explosives under the Nord Stream tubes, before the Norwegians activated them three months later.

According to Hersh, only six of the eight bombs planted in the Nord Stream exploded, due to Biden’s deliberation in making the final decision.

Hersh said, quoting his sources, that at the end of September 2022, eight bombs were supposed to be activated off the island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea, and six of them exploded, because the bombs remained underwater for a long time after the operation was postponed by a decision from Biden.

According to Hersh, at the last minute the White House got nervous… The president said he was afraid to do so and changed his mind, issuing new orders that make it possible to detonate mines remotely at any moment.

According to Hersh, Biden didn’t order the Nord Stream bombing until September, and this decision was opposed by many of the participants in this operation who held high positions in the security services and considered it insane.

Hersh expressed his opinion that Biden eventually carried out the bombing because of his fear that Germany would abandon the sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 project in the event of a cold winter.

For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday, that the West is lying to Russia about what happened in the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

Lavrov asked during a speech before the Russian Duma: “What’re the recent cynical confessions of the former leaders of Germany and France, Merkel and Hollande, they said that they need the package of Minsk agreements, approved by the UN Security Council, in order to buy time and allow Kiev to build its military capabilities.

Simply put, everyone lied to us: and they are lying now, hiding the truth about the attacks on the Nord Stream.

Lavrov continued: “Today, the United States and those in its orbit are waging an all-out hybrid war against us that has been prepared for many years, using Ukrainian fanatical radicals as a scapegoat, and the purpose of this war isn’t hidden, it’s not only the defeat of our country on the battlefield, and the destruction of the Russian economy, but also to surround us with a protective belt, and turn us into a kind of pariah state”.

Lavrov added, “Attempts to isolate Russia have failed, and our enemies are forced to admit this, and that the foreign policy course approved by the president to strictly defend national interests while opening up to broad and equal international cooperation proves its effectiveness”.

Lavrov indicated that the new concept of the updated Russian foreign policy will focus on the need to end the West’s monopoly on shaping the framework of international life, and the framework must be determined not in the selfish interests of the West, but on the basis of a fair balance of interests, as required by the United Nations Charter, which enshrined the principle of equality. In sovereignty among all nations.
