Russian president: Russia doesn’t need standards rudely imposed from abroad

Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that his country does not need standards imposed from abroad that suppress any identity, and that the time has come to decide the fate of the country and fight for the right.

Putin said, in a speech via video conference during the opening of the Academy of Creative Industries in Crimea on Saturday, “We’ve great respect for the heritage of world culture, but looking at what is happening in the world, we understand more and more, and we don’t need guidelines or standards rudely imposed from outside, which suppress any originality and identity”.

The Russian president added, “For us now, in fact, is the time of self-determination, the struggle for the right to be ourselves”.

He pointed out that Russian culture has a special valuable message that speaks of the power of compassion and mutual respect, and the most important spiritual and moral foundations that must be preserved.
