Poll: Most Germans don’t support sending missiles to Ukraine
A recent opinion poll showed that a large majority of the German people support Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s decision not to send Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine.
In a recent poll conducted by YouGov on behalf of the German News Agency, only 28% of those surveyed supported supplying Ukraine with these missiles, which have a range of 500 kilometers, for defense against Russia.
Around 58% of those surveyed oppose the delivery of this weapons system.
More than half of them, a total of 31% of those surveyed, reject in principle any support for Ukraine with German weapons, and 14% didn’t express any opinion.
The poll included 2,169 Germans who were eligible to vote, during the period from March 1 to 5.
Behind the German Chancellor Scholz’s decision lies the fear that Germany would become involved in the war if cruise missiles hit Russian territory.
