A recent poll conducted by the Center for Economic and Policy Research showed that 52% of Americans support suspending the supply of weapons to Israel until the end of its war in the Gaza Strip.

The poll showed a significant difference within the Democratic Party, with 62% of participants agreeing that Washington should stop arms shipments to Israel so that its attacks on Gaza stop, while only 14% opposed this opinion.

On the other hand, only 30% of Republican Party members supported stopping US arms shipments, while a majority of about 55% of Americans opposed the idea of stopping military aid.

Mark Weisbrot, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington, emphasized that “the ceasefire is interpreted differently from one person to another, but the cessation of arms shipments is specific and unambiguous”.

American support for stopping arms shipments to Israel has been gaining popularity in recent days, following the rise in the number of Palestinian deaths to 30,000 people, most of whom are women and children, in the Gaza Strip.
