Politico: Participants in the Munich Security Conference doubt Ukraine’s ability to victory

Politico reported that participants in the Munich Security Conference doubted Ukraine’s chances of victory over Russia.

According to Politico, the prevailing atmosphere at the conference was gloomy, as it described it, noting that the participants were wondering what Kiev could achieve on the battlefield even with the United States’ approval of the new aid package estimated at $60 billion.

Politico pointed out that the public statements of Western politicians indicate a certain reality, while their discussions behind closed doors cast doubt on the ability of the Kiev regime to prevail over Russia in the near future, and even in the long term.

US President Joe Biden said on Friday that the United States cannot provide the necessary support to Ukraine without the US Congress approving the financial aid package he requested.

The US Senate previously approved a bill worth $95 billion that includes aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, including $61 billion for Ukraine, after a week of discussion and four months of controversy over President Biden’s request to fund the war in Ukraine, which he submitted to Congress last October.

The legislation now goes to the House of Representatives for approval.

Initially, the funds allocated to replenish aid to Ukraine, and support for Israel and Taiwan, were in one package with funding measures to protect the southern border of the United States, but the Democratic majority in the Senate decided to separate the two issues, because its certain that it is impossible to agree with Republicans on border and immigration reform.

The US administration has been trying to pass legislation on security aid to various countries, including Ukraine, since last October, when President Joe Biden asked Congress to approve funding amounting to $106 billion, but disagreements over border security and the fight against immigration have hindered legislation on financing additional aid to Ukraine until now.
