Israeli Foreign Minister: The threat to attack Iran is still in effect and we are moving to impose sanctions on Tehran
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said on Sunday that Israel’s threat to attack Iran after its response last night remains valid.
This came in Katz’s interview with Israeli Army Radio after monitoring drones and ballistic missiles launched by Iran against Israeli cities.
Katz added, “We said that if Iran attacks Israel, we will attack it, and this is still in effect”.
He continued, “We need to deepen our cooperation with our allies, and I will lead a political attack against Iran”.
He claimed that Israel received dozens of requests for support from the world, without further details.
He added, “We need to achieve two goals: classify the Revolutionary Guard as a terrorist organization, and push towards imposing effective sanctions against Iran”.
For his part, Aliyah and Integration minister, Ofir Sofer said in statements to Israeli Army Radio, “Iran’s audacity in such an attack must be erased”.
As for Israeli Minister of Education Yoav Kish, he said in a post on X, “The activities of the Israeli Air Force, air defense, cooperation with the United States, and regional factors led to containing the Iranian attack”.
He vowed to respond, saying, “Calmly and wisely, it’s time to attack”.
The Israeli army claimed that most of the missiles and drones launched by Iran were intercepted by its air defense systems and by strategic partner countries before they entered Israeli territory.
But at the same time, he acknowledged that a small number of rockets had fallen inside Israeli territory, pointing out that this caused minor damage to a military base and a serious injury in southern Israel.
At dawn on Sunday, the Home Front Command of the Israeli army announced the end of the Iranian military response, while the Israeli Cabinet authorized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Galant, and Minister Benny Gantz to make decisions to respond to the Iranian attack.
The Iranian response, which is the first of its kind implemented by Tehran from its territory, comes after the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus was exposed at the beginning of this April to an Israeli missile attack, which resulted in the assassination of 7 members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, including prominent General Mohammad Reza Zahedi.
