Chief of Staff General Herzi Halevy visited Southern Command and met with commanders and reservists to discuss the security situation on the ground and approve plans to continue the fight against Hamas.
Halevy told the commanders, “For several days, we have been aggressively attacking Gaza, and everywhere we know there are Hamas activists and Hamas leaders, we attack vigorously, even if there are restrictions”.
Halevy added that despite the surprise, “the Israeli army is working properly, and is doing things precisely, but with very, very force”.
For his part, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday evening, warning members of the Palestinian Hamas movement, saying that every Hamas member is a dead man.
Netanyahu’s statement came while announcing the formation of an Israeli emergency government with the joining of opposition leader and former Defense Minister Benny Gantz.
Gantz said that cooperation between the opposition and Netanyahu isn’t political, but a partnership for the destiny of Israel.
He added, “Our partnership will lead to a clear victory, and will change reality as we face all the challenges… There is a time for peace and a time for war, and now is the time for war”.
Current Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said during the announcement that his country will wipe Hamas off the face of the earth.
Gallant described the Hamas attack as the worst the Jews had witnessed in all history.
