Israel: Many Israelis have applied for asylum in Portugal
As the war in Gaza entered its third month, which was reflected in the security and economic situation in Israel, many Israelis decided to leave, seeking safety and better life opportunities.
A report by Israeli Channel 12 said that many Israelis submitted asylum requests to Portugal following the start of the war in Gaza.
The report added that many Israelis took advantage of the opportunity following Portugal’s announcement that it would allow Israelis to submit asylum applications and issue a refugee visa.
According to Portugal’s announcement, there are no papers required more than a valid Israeli passport, and that the average time taken to obtain initial approval is only one day, and permission is granted to remain in Portugal for several months, work legally, and even obtain government assistance, according to the Israeli channel’s report.
