The Foreign Policy magazine indicated that difficulties which the Israeli government will face during its attempt to eliminate Hamas.
The Foreign Policy reported that although Netanyahu may not admit it, he likely realizes that Hamas has a lifeline in the form of its Israeli prisoners.
And as long as the Israelis remain in the hands of Hamas, Netanyahu will be under pressure to eventually negotiate the release of them.
The Foreign Policy noted that back in 2011, the Israeli government released more than a thousand Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
Rescuing Israeli prisoners is a priority for Israel, but this is only one of the many reasons that prevent Israel from a final ground incursion, which I had thought about for a long time and decided not to do.
The Israeli security services believed for a long time that eliminating Hamas would require more than just a short-term, one-time military operation, and launching a broader campaign poses a set of challenges for the Israeli authorities.

The Foreign Policy magazine considered that in order to search and destroy Hamas’ capabilities and eliminate its leadership, the Israeli army will need to enter Gaza, with the support of intelligence and air power, and search every neighborhood, every house, and every location in Gaza Strip.
And with that being said, the cost in terms of human resources alone is such pledge that could be enough to deter Israel from taking such a step.
According to Foreign Policy, targeting Hamas members inside Gaza requires very good intelligence information, which may not be easily available.
The Israeli Haaretz newspaper, criticized the huge shortage of the Israeli army equipment, as the IDF army stores designated for emergencies aren’t full as claimed.
As for the Walah website, the Israeli army is unable to attack, at a time when the settlers’ confidence in has crumbled, amid the abject military failure demonstrated by the Israeli army since the beginning of Hamas operation.
The Israeli media acknowledged that the Israeli death toll had risen to 1,200 and around 2,900 wounded, since last Saturday morning.
